Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Friday that President Joe Biden will not be making any marijuana policy moves ahead of the midterm elections. Biden's position remains the same: leave adult-use legalization to the states, reschedule marijuana, federally decriminalize the plant and expunge prior records. The White House was similarly asked about Biden’s plans to fulfill his cannabis campaign pledges just two weeks ago, with the press secretary saying she didn’t have “anything to announce today at this point”

Illinois Has Sold $1B Worth of Cannabis So Far This Year
Illinois sold more than $1 billion in adult-use cannabis by the end of August. The $1,015,700,115.70 in total sales represents a 16% year-over-year increase from August 2021. The state’s cannabis tax revenue also jumped from $297.7 million in 2020 to $445.3 million in 2021, a 50% increase. Over $41 million of sales were to out-of-state residents, holding steady at 32% of receipts.
